Evening Entertainment at Jerry & Jo’s Inglewood Manor Wedding

Evening entertainment at Inglewood Manor It was great to return to Inglewood Manor last Saturday providing the evening entertainment at Jo & Jerry’s wedding reception.

I had met the couple at Inglewood Manor wedding fayre in early March. At the time I already had a booking with my band elsewhere for their date.

However, at the end of March, the other couple sadly had to cancel their wedding. So, I got back in touch with Jerry and Jo who happily confirmed their own booking with me.

I was to play sets for the early evening including their first dance “Everything” (Michael Bublé). After that, I was to keep guests on the floor before handing over to resident DJ Ian around 10pm. He would then take things up to half-past midnight.

I ended up playing a mixture of Rat Pack, classic rock, disco, pop and current cover versions. That way, the evening entertainment offered something for everyone. Between myself and Ian, we covered all of the bride and groom’s requests and the dancers did not disappoint… Oh what a night!!

Pianist Singer for Simon and Anna’s Sheldrakes Wedding

Sheldrakes wedding pianistSimon & Anna’s Sheldrakes wedding in Heswall was such a fantastic day. The beautiful setting was made even more so by the glorious weather.

Sheldrakes always offers a special feel that you associate with the seaside, holidays, relaxing, having a drink with friends, etc.

Once the guests had started to arrive, I performed my solo piano & vocals sets during the drinks reception. After a string of requests, including “Ordinary People“, “It Must Be Love” and “Shine” the party was soon buzzing and the daytime singsongs just went on and on…

When the evening guests had all arrived, the stunning bride and her groom cut the cake. Wirral wedding band The 40 Thieves then kicked off with the newlyweds’ first dance request “Sweetest Feeling” and kept the dancefloor bouncing until time was called with “500 Miles“…

Another great Sheldrakes wedding, a glorious day and a great night was had by one and all!

Pianist Singer at Matt & Claire’s Thornton Hall Hotel Wedding

Thornton Hall Hotel weddingI was playing at another great Thornton Hall Hotel wedding last night.
Matt and Claire and I had spoken about options for their wedding day on the August bank holiday Monday.

I usually cover the drinks reception and wedding breakfast part of the day. However, Matt and Claire were keen to have live entertainment between daytime and the evening reception. It can be a good time for guests to stretch their legs after the meal.

But the bride and groom asked me to play some upbeat piano sets and to bring an extra microphone or two. They knew their family and friends wanted to party!

I set up the white baby grand in the bar area while speeches were going on in the Pulford Suite. That way, I could surprise guests with a 6ft white grand piano in the bar when they came out.

There were more than a few characters amongst the guests! By 8 o’clock we already had a full on singalong around the piano. A few guest singers took up the offer of a spare mic to sing some Rat Pack. The groom himself, Matt, sang “That’s Life” to his beautiful bride Claire. She then returned the compliment with a great rendition of Duffy’s “Mercy”. What a moment!

I carried on taking requests for old singalong favourites like Delilah, Daydream Believer, Sweet Caroline, That’s Amore, Champagne Supernova, Shine, etc. Then the best man belted out “Green, Green Grass Of Home”. Definitely one they’ll remember! It’s not unusual…

As soon as the very efficient Thornton Hall Hotel wedding team had turned the Pulford Suite around, it was time to hand over to the band…. and catch a breath! What a great crowd! All the best to the happy couple!!

Pianist Singer at Emma and Jake’s Wedding at Mere Brook House, Wirral

Pianist singer at Mere Brook House weddingI had met Emma and Jake several years earlier at Jake’s Mum’s birthday party in Eastham. I remembered having a great night there amongst so many fun characters and a family full of interesting characters.

Jake’s Mum Jan had sung a few numbers with me at her birthday and she also obliged at Emma and Jake’s wedding at Mere Brook House.

Lorna, Don and the team did a spendid job of making the guests feel right at home and the meal began with some very individual speeches and I remember fondly certain references to grandad’s twist on “well-known parlour games” that may be deemed unsuitable in certain company…

We had a great night with an EXTRA 3 SETS of sing alongs and bopping to long improvised medleys of Motown and classic hits that took us up to midnight. I then drove 3 hours down to Chipping Norton to grab a few hours’ sleep before playing at my cousin’s wedding on the Sunday…

I can’t wait to see some photos from this latest wedding at Mere Brook House and hope to upload soon. In the meantime, all the best! xx
